Summer may be in full swing and the verdict is still out on which artist will be holding down the title for Dance Album of the Year, but you can bet that the hottest pop star of the moment Lady Gaga will make certain that she’s not overlooked (or forgotten) in the race for the hit of the season. But Gaga’s next album is still some time away before it’s pressed, or more specifically available for download -- in the meantime the Mistress of the Monsters is releasing The Remix -- her very first greatest remix anthology on August 3rd!
The 10 track assortment has been all the rage internationally! In markets abroad audiences in the UK, Japan and even our neighbors in Canada have made The Remix a chart-topping hit selling over 500,000! This on the heels of the announcement that Lady Gaga is now officially the most downloaded music superstar -- her album The Fame Monster has sold over 700,00 units to date, adding to the 13 million albums Gaga has sold the world over. The sexually-charged video for "Alejandro" has been viewed over 39 million times since it’s debut early June.
Yes...it looks like Lady Gaga is poised and ready to inherit the world!
Hottest remixers
The Remix brings together some of the hottest remixers and producers in the biz today, and many of these tracks are being offered domestically in this package for the first time. Highlights among the reinventions include "Paparazzi" as imaged by Stuart Price (who is also riding high on the production of Kylie Minogue’s own hit release Aphrodite), goth-god Marilyn Manson makes an appearance of the Chew Fu Ghettohouse Remix of "LoveGame" elevating that hit to new levels. An old favorite from Starsmith, the remix for "Bad Romance" that has been making waves at the club appears on this collection, along with remixes of "Telephone" and Gaga’s current hit "Alejandro". The standout is the rarely heard single "The Fame" -- this Glam As You Remix redux is a without a doubt a "put your hands up" anthem!
Little Monsters will have to settle for this offering to appease their appetites, at least until Gaga returns to the charts with some new hits as she continues on The Monster Ball Tour which is currently in it’s North American run. She has promised that the title of her next full-length album will be announced on New Year’s Eve and will be available early in 2011. Until then Lady Gaga we leave us dancing in the dark!
