Rehomo Ramblings: The good, the bad and the ugly
The good, the bad and the ugly is the perfect description for the past weekend in Rehoboth.
Blues at the Blue Moon
While typically one of the best parts of the weekend, I found Thursday night Karaoke at the Blue Moon a little off the mark. There are times when drunken Karaoke can be very fun, but this was not one of them. Poor Mona "I Don’t Pick the Singers" Lotts practically had to give sobriety tests to a few of the performers. And to make matters worse, a couple of lesbians decided to have a lover’s quarrel and involve the whole bar. For a second my friends and I thought we had made a wrong turn and were in the Frogg Pond. Let’s put this in the bad category.
Luckily, happy hour at Aqua on Friday fell into the good category. The drinks were cold and the servers were hot. After a few cocktails, my partner and I were ready to call it a night when our friend Charlie "That’s Two Xs" Champagne arrived and invited us to chill at his pool on Saturday afternoon and help keep him out of trouble while his partner was out of town on a business trip (I bet you can predict what the next paragraph will be about.)
In the pool (with many hot men)
With temperatures topping 90 degrees, heading to the pool was on the top of our agenda on Saturday. And while we knew Charlie had great taste in friends (he knows us,) it became even more obvious once we arrived and found a couple dozen of the hottest men in town lounging around the pool. We had a great afternoon making new friends and watching more and more stud muffins arrive as the day progressed. There is no doubt this was a good time.
Off to Aqua and Poodle
After freshening up back at the beach house, we grabbed our roomies and headed to Aqua to support its fundraiser for the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company. There was a cool vintage fire truck parked in front of the bar and all of the servers where decked out in firefighter pants-complete with suspenders covering their bare torsos. It had all the makings of hit porno!
My partner and I were having so much fun at Aqua (I think it had something to do with the Jell-O shooters) that we almost didn’t want to leave, but we decided to take a short break to visit the fellows at 9 Manor, who were holding a fun little soiree to celebrate the birthday of one of the housemates. After catching up with some friends, we headed home, but not before making another quick pit stop at Aqua for a final night cap.
The weather on Sunday was still scorching, but that didn’t keep me or the other boys for heading to Poodle Beach. And I’m so glad I did! Since I had not made it beyond Aqua on Saturday night, a few of my friends were quick to offer me updates on what I missed. It seems Cloud 9, which has been hit or miss the entire summer, had a good night with some great music and a jammed dance floor. We will have to see if this trend continues on Friday, July 23, when promoter Joe "Go, Brooklyn" Harris holds Frisky, the first in a series of special events he is planning to help bring back the club’s silver lining.
Unfortunately, the word on the street was not so good-well, actually pretty ugly-for the Double L. It seems that following last weekend’s MANdance, the Delaware Alcohol Beverage Control received several complaints alleging "a dancer masturbated to fruition while on the bar." An e-mail that circulated denied the claims, but it also alerted patrons the "ABC will be at MANdance over the next few weeks checking it out." As such, my sources informed me there were far fewer attendees and that it was uncomfortably hot.
Good, bad or ugly, I’m looking forward to seeing what the next weekend holds.
